Recently, I found myself immersed in an audiobook about food and mental health that challenged my personal views and habits about nutrition. As someone with certifications in nutrition who embraces a predominantly plant-based lifestyle, listening to a staunch advocate for keto and carnivore diets felt like venturing into uncomfortable territory. My first instinct? *Cringe* Maybe I can return it... But if I wanted to walk my talk about being open to other perspectives that don't necessarily align with my own, I had to keep listening. By the final chapter, while I hadn't abandoned my core nutritional philosophy, I had gained valuable insights about how different foods affect our bodies and minds. This unplanned journey reminded me of a powerful truth that applies perfectly to event planning: sometimes the most exciting and memorable events come from embracing perspectives that initially make us uncomfortable.
Why Flexibility Matters in Your Next Event In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to fall into planning routines. The same venues. Similar agendas. Predictable experiences. But just as I discovered unexpected value in that audiobook, your group might find transformative opportunities by exploring fresh approaches to your meetings, events, and travel programs. Breaking Free from Planning Patterns Consider how often we automatically dismiss ideas:
The Wellness Connection As a wellness-focused planner, I've seen firsthand how stepping outside comfort zones can enhance not just event outcomes but participant wellbeing. That unconventional venue might offer opportunities for natural light and movement. The unexpected destination might provide unique stress-reduction experiences. Just as understanding different nutritional perspectives expanded my toolkit for supporting health, exploring diverse event approaches can reveal new ways to incorporate wellness elements that energize participants and boost engagement. Practical Steps for Perspective Flexibility
Remember that flexibility doesn't mean abandoning what works—it means expanding your toolkit to include approaches you might otherwise overlook. The Return on Openness The most memorable events I've planned have almost always involved an element that initially raised eyebrows. The leadership retreat where executives traded business casual for hiking boots. The sales conference that replaced traditional presentations with interactive problem-solving stations. The wellness program that incorporated local cultural practices alongside familiar fitness elements. In each case, the willingness to consider approaches outside the norm created experiences that participants still talk about—and that delivered measurable results. Your Next Extraordinary Experience Awaits I'm passionate about creating events that nurture both achievement and wellbeing, and that begins with an open mind about what's possible for your organization. What assumptions might be limiting your next event's potential? What fresh perspective might transform a routine meeting into something extraordinary? I'd love to explore these questions with you. Let's discover how flexibility in approach can create an event experience that exceeds expectations while supporting your group's wellbeing and goals. Together, we can design something truly remarkable—perhaps by venturing slightly beyond your comfort zone!

Tucked away where California and Nevada meet, Lake Tahoe is a breathtaking destination—a vast, sapphire-blue lake cradled by the majestic Sierra Nevada mountains. Just a short 40-minute drive from Reno’s major airport, your journey to this stunning alpine retreat is as scenic as the destination itself. At OmniEra, we specialize in curating unforgettable incentive travel experiences and transformative retreats, so revisiting Lake Tahoe post-pandemic was a must. And let me tell you, this mountain paradise continues to impress with its endless charm and versatility. Whether you’re looking for vibrant energy or serene relaxation, Lake Tahoe offers an array of accommodations to suit your vision. Indulge in the lively atmosphere of Nevada’s iconic casino resorts like the Golden Nugget and Harvey’s, or opt for a cozy, intimate escape at The Coachman Hotel. No matter the season, there’s a perfect lakeside setting for you. During my recent stay, I explored the newly remodeled Margaritaville Resort in South Lake Tahoe. Located quite literally on the state line (yes, one step across the street, and you’re in Nevada!), this resort is a refreshing blend of laid-back luxury and adventure. With a heated indoor pool, hot tub, multiple bars and restaurants, golf club and ski storage, and Heavenly Resort in its backyard, it’s a prime location. Plus, it’s within walking distance to shopping, casinos, and the Tahoe Blue Event Center—ideal for those looking to mix business with pleasure. For an unforgettable afternoon, start with a leisurely lunch at Riva Grill, where sweeping lake views set the perfect backdrop. Then, step right onto the dock for a cruise across Lake Tahoe. One of my most magical moments was aboard the Spirit of Lake Tahoe, watching delicate snow flurries dance around us as we glided toward the breathtaking Emerald Bay—a scene straight out of a postcard. And when the sun sets, the adventure continues. Unwind with a cocktail at Wolf by Vanderpump at Harrah’s (think Twilight meets ultra-chic elegance) before enjoying a night of entertainment and casino excitement at the interlinked Caesars properties.
Lake Tahoe is a destination that offers inspiration, relaxation, and adventure—all in one spectacular setting. Whether you're planning a corporate retreat, an incentive getaway, or a rejuvenating escape, let OmniEra craft an experience that brings your vision to life. Ready to plan your next event or retreat in Lake Tahoe? Let’s make it unforgettable. Let’s be real about diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA). Putting aside the noise of current events, let’s focus on how DEIA directly impacts businesses and the economy. While it’s undeniably the right thing to do for humanitarian reasons, some may still question its practicality. For those seeking a more tangible perspective, let’s explore DEIA through a financial lens. DEIA policies and practices offer a host of advantages that drive business success and financial growth. Here are five key ways DEIA makes good business sense:
DEIA isn’t just about doing what’s right—it’s about doing what’s smart. It’s a strategic investment in innovation, talent, and growth, ensuring businesses not only survive but thrive in an increasingly diverse and interconnected world. Let us know your thoughts. Earlier this January, the Northern California and Napa-Sonoma Chapters of ILEA (International Live Event Association) led their annual joint program at the Lighthouse at Glen Cove Marina with a very important theme: Mental Wellness, particularly focusing on those of us in events and hospitality, but a key topic for us all. Shining a light on mental wellness and reducing the stigma is a much needed push we need to continue to have in our society. While everyone in any occupation is affected, those of us in hospitality and live events face a unique type of challenge with both being one of the top 5 most stressful jobs reported year after year, and in such a public facing role where we all need to be "on" all the time. (The world is burning! ...As we have a big grin on our face to make everyone else feel like things are going smoothly). I was thankful to share my story briefly alongside fellow speakers Jill McDonald, Patrick McMichael and Elizabeth Becker. Each of us has gone through a transformation in our lives from a mental health perspective and are now able to share to give strength and hope to others that may be struggling with similar processes. After my introduction I was able to lead the group through a short exercise in becoming mindful and present at the beginning of the program to set the tone and intention for the rest of the program, which included activities such as sharing circles that I was able to lead one of the two. I must say, I don't think I've ever attended an event with such transparency, vulnerability, strength and support as this one! It truly took the attendees having a safe place in which to share their own stories, create connections, and help each other with suggestions and ideas on how to get through the difficult times and experiences that we all must face at one time or another. The joint program featured healthy meal and snack offerings, as well as a variety of delicious (not sugar overloaded!) healthy mocktails alongside the always highlighted signature cocktails from Chris Evans Catering and San Francisco Cocktail Club. There were areas to have a quiet reflective space, a beautiful sunset walk along the marina, and plenty of networking time for everyone to regroup and connect on their experience and how we can continue to support each other's businesses.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible. It was a perfect example how what we need to do, how we need to do it, and why it is so needed in our work and homelives, especially these days!
